We are probably at our strangest paradoxical moment in history.
Obesity, diabetes and related illnesses are at an unprecedented high. The research is clear that as a nation and a species we are the unhealthiest we’ve ever been in our history.
Interestingly, the amount of time spent preparing meals in households has fallen by more than half since the 1960’s. Today many households spend no more than 20 minutes in the kitchen, a week!!
Historically, the precise moment when Australians began to abandon the kitchen and hand over the preparation of most of our meals to the food industry, our general health and wellbeing, plummeted.
Ironically some of the highest rating television shows ever recorded in our country are about cooking. Millions of Australians sit riveted each week to at least two or more 60-90 minute episodes a week.
So the interest in cooking seems to be there...
Clearly, so are the benefits.
